AMMONOIDEA
|
The richness of the Ammonite fauna in the English
Albian is due in part to favourable conditions of preservation but also
reflects a world-wide burst of evolutionary activity that took place in
the group towards the end of the Lower Cretaceous. For further information
you may go to the OVERVIEW
adapted from the systematic account of the Ammonoidea by Raymond Casey
in the 1966 Geol. Soc. Memoire on the Geology of the country around Canterbury
and Folkestone.
|
Representative specimens of many of the Albian AMMONOIDEA are illustrated here and in the linked pages and it is my intention to expand this to include most of the species found in the Kentish Albian. I have, where appropriate, adopted the systematic structure in the Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology, 1996, Part L Mollusca 4 (Revised) by C.W. Wright et. al. and thereafter the order in which individual species are described in their relevant monograph. |
I have focused on producing high-resolution images, therefore the download time may take a little longer. Your patience will be rewarded. |
